April 26, 2007 Well the proof is in! I'm certainly not as efficient as Rick was. It's been a long time since the last newsletter hit the web page. To update you, we didn't put a float in the Christmas Parade -- just too cold for anyone's comfort. On the other hand, the turn out for the Christmas Dinner was great. Thanks to all who brought food or gifts for the Salvation Army Christmas Cheer Fund. As a club, we not only contributed to Triple Play as was mentioned in October, but we also gave to the Christmas Cheer Fund, the Tree of Lights Campaign and the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Society. It is great to support those who support us. It was a great turn out at our February meeting -- we thought maybe 6 or 7 -- so we would hold it at Walsten Air on the Harbourfront. Guess what, were we wrong! It may have been colder than you know what, but 16 faithful showed up. Talk about cozy. Committees have been decided for the following: TROPHY COMMITTEE Bill Richards, Irene Harder SPONSORSHIP In his absence, Ross Noble T-SHIRTS Bill Richards, Irene Harder ELECTIONS The following were elected by acclamation: VICE PRESIDENT - Richard Turcotte SECRETARY - Irene Harder Our illustrious President has paid our dues to MAAC and NAAACCC. Our liability insurance has come down in price this year, thanks to our membership in NAAACCC. Just a few notes of interest: The club is looking into the restoration of a Bombardier, which may be used at future winter events or Carfest. We will keep you posted. Canadian Street Rod Association -- they will be coming through Kenora in July. We will be helping A&W host this event. For those who are interested, you can join the tour any time. ============================================================ May, 2007 Well members, it has certainly been a busy month which has seen a few changes in the club's direction. First I would like to thank all those who showed up at the meeting on Wednesday, May 23rd. The big news is that the members of Kenora Classic Car Club have decided not to host Carfest this year. This decision was not made easily, but after much thought and discussion it was decided that Carfest had become more than the club could handle. Carfest has grown yearly, with much hard work, but with fewer members able to give of the time required to host this event. It was agreed that for this year we would not host Carfest. Onto bigger and better things, thanks to Johnny K., Wednesday night cruises are certainly thriving. The Drive-In night was a great time. Members met at the Passion Pit, cruised to Rushing River and back to Canadian Tire. There we were treated to hot dogs, hamburgers, and even popcorn. The best was yet to come, for the guys I'm sure it was the cartoon before the main feature. Mother Nature was a little frosty that night, but a great time was had by all. This past Wednesday, we met at Casey's for a Show 'N Shine, then most stayed to enjoy a great meal. Please remember to check for Wednesday Cruising details on the web site, which Mark keeps updating and enjoy the pictures! See you next Wednesday and let's have fun. Irene ============================================================ September, 2007 Well guys, another season of cruising is fast drawing to a close and what a wonderful time it was. It will now be the season of DIET and those who joined the cruises this summer will understand. Not only did Johnny K. lead us hither and yon again this summer, but it usually included a wonderful meal at the end. On that note, don't forget about the dinner at the Redditt Legion this Wednesday! (I guess the diet will have to wait, unless we all go on the see food and eat it diet). Thank you once again to Johnny K. for our great Wednesday outings we know it takes a lot of planning and effort. Thank you also to all the members who show their appreciation by participating Tim, you can get your wife to make bannock buns anytime they were delicious, but give her more notice next time. Mark Sissons, the pictures at the A&W look great hope all the members will go out and see them Al, the framing is terrific! Hope everyone enjoyed the cute commentary Mark and Johnny provided with the summer cruise pictures. It sure made some interesting reading. Thanks guys, for all your hard work. Our monthly meetings have now resumed in a more formal manner and 14 members attended the meeting on August 30th. Regret to inform you that our Vice President Richard Turcotte has resigned, but a big welcome to our new Vice President Mike Tooke. It was also decided by a unanimous vote that the Kenora Classic Car Club will not be hosting Carfest in 2008, but members are encouraged to volunteer with whomever hosts the event. In case you didn't read your email and missed the Christmas Bells, our Christmas Party will be Saturday, December 8th. Hope you are all planning to attend after all, we can continue our new hobby called eating. Don't forget the next meeting will be Thursday, October 4th, so come out and make your voices heard. Thanks again to all who made this summer's cruising such a great time and if Mother Nature cooperates maybe we can cruise through October that'll sure make winter seem shorter. Happy cruising and see you Wednesday at the pit. Irene PS Brian and Susan, the prize fairy says you can't win anymore she just won't let you!
