What a gorgeous night for a cruise! Great food, great company and great service! Shelly at the Willard Lake Restaurant along with her staff did a GREAT job. Thirty two hungry mouths to feed and nineteen Classics on display. Too bad, so sad, the new club didn't come out too. Truth be known, I don't know where they would have sat? I must say, I was envious of "THE STEAK PEOPLE" — having to watch Mark attacking half a cow with knife & fork in hand. Next week is a combo Poker Derby to the "Night Hawk Cafe" in West Hawk and THERE WILL BE PRIZES!!! I also confirmed this morning that the Reddit Legion is going to do up their version of "Ship 'N Shore" on Aug 15th. Remember, we meet at "Passion Pit" for the next two outings! It will probably be Wednesday night cruises to "Weight Watchers" all through September after this month's sessions? :-)

Lots of new cars again this year. A sample gallery of some of the cars & folks is shown here.
Well another night of Food, Good Company & Driving... Oh yeah, and a little rain too. A good turnout all the same and Al's travel buddy Vivian had the Golden Horseshoe on this night. She won "The Creeper"... No, I don't mean Al! Smitty's Auto Body had donated the prize and we just did a draw. Personally, I was a bit disappointed that we had to wait a while to get seated, but the food was good or maybe I was really hungry. It makes things worthwhile when all the gang comes out to these events... Many thanks!
Another successful outing to Redditt for steak and fish! Very tasty! It would appear 30 people attended; approximately 16 cars. Joan Delorme nearly fell off her chair as she won 1st prize of a watch, wallet and pen (which Ron will get for Xmas this year). Johnny Edwards showed up with his new Ford convertible decked out in purple and white and won 2nd prize of $55 in a 50-50 draw. As well, his car was chosen by the Redditt staff and they provided him with a pail of blueberries. Larry from Larry's Jewellers was not so lucky. Nobody could provide him with a set of jumper cables. Alas, Kenny Kowalik to the rescue! — only to require further assistance at the bypass intersection. Reliable Al to the rescue! — followed by Johnny K's taxi service to get him safely to his domain. I consider this a great turn out on a cool evening. See you at the movies next week.
Cars, Cars, Cars! That's what this Wednesday night was all about. Things started rolling with the usual gathering at Passion Pit followed by Al taking the group to A & W for a photo shoot and grub. More driving over to Husky Travel Stop West where we all got ready for another Drive-in movie... "CARS" naturally. Some familiar faces joined us from Manitoba with their Mini and Scott with his lowered '73 VW Bug. I thought we were running a day care centre with the kids that were there laughing their heads off. Ronnie, Wally, Roger and Smiling Jack were the lucky winners tonight with prizes from Piston Ring & Husky West. Even John Valiquette had to admit it was a really good movie! Thanks to all the spectators for sticking around. I may try for one more after taking a poll on the interest level. The Husky site works out great for food, lighting & toilets.
A number of us travelled west and up Highway 11 via Whitemouth to Beausejour for a lovely show with over 480 cars... Here's some images from that day.
A far better than expected group of people were on hand to dine on Gropp's Goodies. Many thanx to Mark for taking the pictures for the A & W Wall of Fame. Kudos to Chris & Brian for getting the MGB running again. It was almost a "Tech Nite" in a way. FYI, it was a unhooked vacuum advance and an adjustment to 11 degrees that was needed. A poll was taken and most members plan to attend the Labour Day celebrations at noon at Anicanabe Park. Plans are in the works for another movie in Sept. On a down note, one of our own sped off flipping rocks at my car... This is totally immature and uncalled for... THESE CARS COST MONEY!!! Do it somewhere else if you must.
Considering the imposing crappy weather, a good turn out of about 10 dedicated members came out for tonight's run. Al tended to the group until 6:30 at which point they left to go around the Lac Lu loop (which had deer all over the place and JK almost took out Bambi!) Along the route, I thought the President would drop out of the parade and take a short cut home with his new MUSTANG but, noooooooo, he joined us at A & W and was pleased with the way things were running, engine-wise, on his new car. Prize winner tonight, once again, was Roger Turcotte. We discussed meeting next Wednesday at Reddens at 6:00 to proceed to Rushing River for a wiener roast. Some people are going to bring salad and Tim & his wife are bringing 30 bannock burgers. Looking forward to that! Some members will also be bringing some dry firewood. The drive-in movie night is cancelled, so that will be it until next season. As you can tell, we really miss our camera man because JK forgot to bring his and nobody else seems to have one. Kind of reminds me of car guys not having jumper cables. The only new car out was Rick's and I will definitely have some candid pix of that one next week, along with the BIG, BIG smile that was on Rick's face when his new toy ran so well.
No Pictures this time... No cameras! ;-(
Baby, It's Cold Outside! But all in all, a dozen cars showed up for the Poker Derby. Redditt road, the by-pass, the airport, C & C Husky — and everybody as if they were in the "Great Race" headed off in God knows what direction??? But we finally connected in downtown Kenora to make it together to A & W. I was leading and yet Bill Richards ended up ahead of me and then behind me! I'm definitely confused. I think they all needed a Navigator tonight? Rick had his new toy out again and some shots are included. Roger Turcotte has some VERY BRITISH wiring issues in his lighting on the Vette. Jack's coffee urn wouldn't work off his cigarette lighter... Nice touch though, Jack. Oh yes, let's not forget "Mr. Horseshoe-Up-My-___"... Brian Turner, who won the fancy Budweiser hat & t-shirt! Between him and Sue, they certainly won't need to buy any stocking stuffers. Bill Tait was out with a real dog tonight... Some kind of German Wiener Schnitzel or something else you would put mustard on :-) — actually it was a VERY well behaved German Schnauzer. They say Dogs always look like their masters... Hmmm, I think they're right Bill. Maybe Rushing River next Wednesday?
WOW!!! What a fantastic night for weather and people! Twenty cars showed up and so I was very busy in the Hot Dog dept. I didn't get a head count, but there were LOTS. Many thanks to Tim & his wife for the Bannock Burgers, Smiling Jack for the great perked coffee & the BBQ, Big Al for sweeping up the glass and helping with the organization, Donna Tait for the potato salad and finally, all the members that made this a GREAT night out. Hey... Murray Afflick too, because it was FREE! We raised another $39 for the club by raffling off the "Creeper" that Vivian won and then graciously donated back to the cause. Tim's wife won that, plus $55 cash. Thanks to Ronny D. for the suggestion of going to the park. It really was a gorgeous night... One of the best ones this year.
Kudos all around. First, to the weatherman for such a great night of sunshine and the autumn colours... And second, to the Redditt Legion for their generosity with food and the prize of a Black & Decker coffee maker. The prize was presented to Randy Hanstead.
Speaking of the food... Wow!! Again, kudos to the twenty three members & partners that made this final ride of the season extra special. I hope I've left the membership with a memory of what a club is about... FUN!! FUN!! FUN!!
I realize there may be nice days ahead and I hope someone phones someone else and they go cruising.
Till next time... "Safety Fast"
thanx again, Johnny K
