June 4th Another Poker Derby Night

Who would have thought that on a cloudy/damp Wednesday night that we would end up with 15 cars on this run. By the way, Bill Tait won with 3 eights and took home a very nice set of prizes from Pizza Hut.

Tim won the 50/50 AGAIN!!! Hmmmmmm... and Chris had his silver 'vette selected by the Pizza Hut Bunnies as the car of choice and he won a prize. See Roger, you should have been out rather than watching the hockey game with Tom & Irene, Les & Marie, Brian & Sue, Duke & Vicky, Brian & Kim. Actually if the regulars had shown up it would have been an excellent outing.

As it was, the Pizza Hut people gave us 20% off a great meal. Mark is taking pictures again this year so expect some good ones.

Next Wed. we'll head west to West Hawk. Don't forget the Father's Day run on the 15th... Let's make it a good group outing and have some fun and meet new faces too.

We hope Brownie gets his tranny problems solved. Randy Hanstead... Where were you hiding??? Probably in the back of Larry's Jewellers... By the way, is Larry alive?

OK enough pot-shots at the no-shows and many thanx to all who did make it... See you next week!

June 11th Trying to cruise to West Hawk

Some ended going off to West Hawk, some went home, some stopped at Casey's for a meal, and one had car trouble.

It was cold, and threatened rain, and most of us were not in the best mood to race over to West Hawk this night.

June 15th Father's Day Car Show in south Winnipeg and a Farm BBQ

It was a Happy Father's Day indeed and mine got off on the right foot when eight of our club members showed up at McDiarmids to brave the elements and participate in our Sunday adventure. After a preflight check and explaining to the "Duke" that we would park our horses at PETRO-CANADA, not ESSO at Prawda, we departed. It soon became apparent that the "Duke" does not listen very well at all. This was like the tortise and the hare race with the slow guys waiting at Petro-Canada for the speedsters!

Finally, we got to the Car show of approximately 50 cars... NO ADMISSION fee... free drink/hamburgers/grab bags/special Father's day gifts and free draw enteries and EVERYONE won a PRIZE... the bonus was GREAT PEOPLE TOO. The Kaizer with the wooden dash and the Monarch were a big favourite I think.

Yet the best was yet to come and a TRUE example of "Friendly Manitoba" was soon to be shown to us. John Duffeld & his family certainly exceed the word Gracious! We were not only treated to free run of his many buildings to explore, but he gave us a personal tour and explanations of his many projects and I do mean many. This is a museum. Sooooooooo many cars and nostalgia items! Totally blew my mind. Al Sutherland, who was skeptical of making the trip, said he wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Next came supper!!! BBQ burgers, Farmers Sausage, Potato Salad, salads and ice cream with chocolate syrup & nuts... and FREE! What a trip!

Thanks to all who supported this run... What a fantastic trip in my eyes and NO BREAKDOWNS.

June 18th Fish Fry at Redditt Legion

A gorgeous day and night, along with the best turnout of the year! Thank you... I believe the final count was 18 cars and 26 members. The Legion did its usual bang up job on the Fish and I can hardly wait till August or September when we'll try BBQ'd Ribs! Although I don't know the cost of the Rib dinner, I feel confident it will be resonable and VERY Tasty.

It was a great drive and I for one could hear the Army Worms popping under my tires on the Hwy.

Lucky Sue won the folding creeper and the $38 raised will pay for the rental of the projector.

We will be back to more prize draws next Wednesday in West Hawk Lake.

Thanx again for coming out to support and GOOD LUCK to the Vette Guys this weekend.

June 22nd Movie Night at Norman Park Community Centre

Gropp's provided munchies, and many stayed for the flick. More importantly, Mark finally got his year-long engine trouble diagnosed with help from Chris Dexter. I'm now forever in his debt!

June 25th Cruise to West Hawk Lake for Dinner

A good showing of cars tonight and of course the grub was great too and I might add quite reasonable. I missed Tim tonight and I even had a t-shirt for him. Speaking of t-shirts, Mr. Bill won the prize tonight plus a pen & key chain from All Rig Towing. I can say from first hand experience last night, that All Rigs service and rates are hard to beat. My fuel pump went but the new one I installed Tuesday night worked flawlessly tonight. El Presidente admits that his fleet of Pony cars are not running well at all but both Rick & Judy couldn't pass up on the weather or the grub. A good representation of the fairer sex. Mark won a yet to be disclosed pile of cash that will be used to keep his VW in gas & oil. Sharron (restaurant owner) really appreciated our clubs support and I indicated we'd be back.

Thanks to all for the support... Poker Derby next week. Oh yeah... Ronnie has not left the province... He was seen by yours truly driving his AMX at approx. 9:15 pm by the subway. He was spotted shortly after I took my wife for "Ice Cream" as a peace offering for not taking her to West Hawk!

Expect Rick's black beast at the next event! Latest breaking news as of tonight says that a bigger breaker has un-broken his bronco... er... Pony...
